I’ve just finished one of the darkest, most disturbing novels I’ve ever read. This is transgressive literary fiction at its darkest and whilst I wouldn’t recommend it to friends because I genuinely think they’d find it distressing, I had to acknowledge the author’s skill in his creation of characters and plot so gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ For those of you who enjoy feeling uncomfortable and pushing out of your comfort zone while you read though, I think you’ll love it. I need to read something much lighter now and I have the perfect book (I’ll explain more later this week). Tonight the online gallery was unveiled and I’m so proud of my final piece. A year ago I had no confidence in my creativity and would never have dreamed I’d be attempting mixed media collage pieces, let alone saying I was proud of it. Then an email landed in my work inbox about a wonderful artist called Jennie who was running art classes in the hospital I work in (when not shielding). What an amazing, warm, talented person with an infectious smile, a lyrical Irish accent and an ability to coax even the most nervous inner artist out into the light. Art club is on hiatus until September now as Jennie’s adding another mini artist to her family and I wish her every happiness. Until then I hope I can keep in touch with the fun, friendly people I’ve got to know on Monday evenings and I’m looking forward to meeting them in real life for cake and creativity once normality returns. Savoury pancakes rolled up cannelloni style with creamy tomato, bacon, bean, onion, garlic, mushroom and spinach filling and cheddar cheese melted on top. Sounds weird but even the fussiest eaters in the family loved it.
